Terms & Conditions for Progress Music Academy

  1. Introduction
  • Progress Music Academy (referred to as "we", "us", or "the Academy") provides private musical instrument lessons and recording studio services to children and adults.
  • These terms and conditions govern the relationship between Progress Music Academy and its students ("you" or “the customer” or "the student").
  • These Terms and Conditions apply to both in-person and virtual lessons.
  1. Booking and Availability
  • Lessons are booked in advance based on availability. Lessons can be booked using our online booking system, via email or in person.
  • Payment is required in advance of the first lesson only.
  • A lesson is not confirmed until the student receives the email confirmation from our booking system.
  • Customers are required to complete and sign the ‘new starter form’ prior to their first lesson with us.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule lessons due to unforeseen circumstances.
  1. Cover lessons
  • Although the student will have the same teacher for 99% of the lessons, a cover teacher maybe used, without prior notice, in the event of unplanned teacher absence or sickness. The cover teacher will be aware of your current progress.
  • In the event that cover can not be secured, the lesson will be cancelled, the student will be advised, and no fees will be processed.
  1. Notifications & Marketing
  • All students must receive the standard appointment notifications in the form of email and text message reminders.
  • Upon the sign-up process, students can opt in/out of marketing messages.
  • Our system restricts the sending/receiving of text message to within sociable hours.
  1. Cancellation Policy
  • Once a booking is confirmed, our 24-hour cancellation policy applies.
  • A minimum of 24 hours is required to cancel or change your booking with us. The FULL LESSON fee will automatically be charged if you fail to show up for a lesson or if you cancel it (for any reason) inside 24 hours.
  • If you are ill and cannot make the lesson booking, the lesson fee will still be charged unless we can rearrange the lesson for that same week, but this solely depends on teacher availability.
  • Please do not attend lessons if you are ill and there is a risk of transmission.
  • Where possible, Progress will be as flexible and as accommodating as possible.
  1. Lateness
  • If a student does not attend the lesson by the time 50% of the lesson duration has lapsed, without any prior communication, the teacher has the right to mark the appointment as a no show and leave the premises. This lesson will also be automatically charged.
  • If you are running late for your appointment, please let us know where possible.
  • If you arrive late for your lesson, the Teacher is under no obligation to extend the lesson time any longer than the original scheduled time, especially if they have other students waiting.
  • If the teacher is running late, every effort will be made to communicate this with the student prior to their arrival and the lesson will either be extended, or time added onto the next appointment.
  1. Payment of Fees
  • Fees for the first lesson only are required in advance.
  • ALL payments are handled on account via our autopay system, managed by Stripe.
  • Lessons can be paid for individually or in discount packs (please see the pricelist for full payment options)

  • Student’s Obligations: Students are expected to attend lessons punctually and practice outside of lessons as advised by instructors.
  1. Examinations, Competitions, and Performances
  • Progress Music Academy may facilitate participation in music examinations, competitions, and public performances.
  • Participation is optional and may be subject to additional terms and fees.
  • Students will not be entered for exams or public performance with out prior agreement by the teacher, student and Progress Music Academy.
  1. Adults and Children

  1. Student Progress
  • Your teacher will provide regular updates on you or your child’s progress.
  • Using our free Practice Space app, you will have access to thorough lesson notes, content and practice targets set by your teacher.
  • A student progress form is available and can be used periodically, to agree short and long term goals in writing between the Teacher and Student.
  • Taking lessons alone is not a guarantee of progression. The student accepts that progress can be determined by personal practise to support the learning as advised by the teacher.
  1. Termination of service
  • The lesson service can be terminated at any time by both Progress and the student.
  • If the Student chooses to terminate the service, any remaining lessons from a pre-paid discounted lesson pack are non-refundable.
  • The Teacher reserves the right, and entirely at the Teacher’s discretion, to refuse tuition with immediate effect by giving written notice of termination to the student or the students parent or carer in the event of a safety concern for themselves or the student.
  • If the Teacher chooses to terminate the lesson service, any outstanding fees will be refunded, unless in the case of a safety concern by the teacher, in which case a full written notice will be provided.
  • The Teacher reserves the right, entirely at the Teacher’s discretion, to refuse tuition with immediate effect if the student appears to be sick and there is a risk of transmission. Refunds will not be offered in this case.
  • If a Teacher becomes sick and is worried about the risk of transmission, then their remaining lessons for that day will either be cancelled, covered or converted to online sessions.
  1. School Holidays and Inclement Weather
  • Progress is closed over the Christmas and New Year period but is open all year round otherwise and does not follow the school term times.
  • In the event of an inclement weather cancellation, you will be notified of a studio closure. Lessons cancelled due to inclement weather will be held virtually or cancelled.
  • Lessons cancelled late due to weather conditions are subject to the same cancellation policy as usual, unless Progress has decided to close entirely for that period. If you are worried about the weather affecting your appointment, please make sure you cancel with enough notice, or change to an online session.
