Andrew Duncan – Drum Tutor
Andrew first picked up a pair of drumsticks at the age of 11 and has not looked back since then, studying drumkit and marching snare drum under the tutelage of Richard Champion. In 2018, he began his studies on the BMus Jazz course at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree.
Andrew has received coaching and attended masterclasses led by well-known artists across all mediums of music including Jeff Ballard, Mark Guiliana, Jeff Tain Watts, Ari Hoenig, Maria Schneider, Jerry Bergonzi, Yazz Ahmed, Soweto Kinch, Jeff Williams, Michael Janisch, Iain Ballamy, Jean Toussaint, Pablo Held, John O’Gallagher, Percy Pursglove, Mark Hodgson, Arnie Somogyi, Mike Williams and Ed Puddick.
He held the drum chair with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland Jazz Orchestra for their 40th Anniversary Tour of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eire in Summer 2019 and he was also a member of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra and is firmly established on the function band circuit around the UK.
Andrew's debut solo album Islands is out now.
