Niall Creane is an experienced music tutor, guitarist, songwriter and performer with over fifteen years of experience within the music industry.
With a passion for both playing and teaching, Niall has worked with students in schools, music shops and private tuition, building up extensive experience delivering both one-to-one and group lessons. He has taught students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners picking up a guitar for the first time through to experienced players looking to take their playing to the next level.
At the heart of Niall’s teaching is the belief that no two musicians are the same. His lessons are tailored around each individual student, their musical tastes, goals and preferred way of learning.
Whether you want to work towards graded exams, improve your technique, understand more about theory, develop your improvisation and songwriting, or simply learn to play the songs and artists that inspire you, Niall aims to give students the skills and confidence to follow their own musical journey — while making sure they have plenty of fun along the way!
Niall’s own performing career began at the age of 14 and has since taken him to stages across Birmingham and throughout the UK. He has performed at some of the city’s best-known venues, including the NEC and O2 Academy Birmingham, alongside numerous shows and live events around the country.
He currently performs as lead guitarist and songwriter with progressive metal band Orpheus, but his musical experience stretches far beyond rock and metal. Niall has undertaken session work with a variety of artists and musicians across an incredibly broad range of genres, including hip-hop, R&B, funk, Motown, blues and pop. This versatility gives him a wealth of real-world experience to bring into his lessons and means he is equally at home helping students with heavy riffs, blues improvisation, funky rhythm playing or their favourite pop songs.
As a songwriter and producer, Niall has also had the opportunity to work alongside a wide range of talented artists within the UK music scene, developing a strong network of musicians, producers and other creative professionals along the way.
Niall studied Popular Music Performance at Birmingham City University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in 2018. During his studies, he had the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading music tutors and was awarded a First for his final major performance.
His experience within music isn’t limited to playing and teaching either. Niall has also designed, managed and promoted a number of live music events, giving him a wider understanding of the industry and what goes into taking music from the practice room to the stage. He’s also regularly comissioned to review live music events and festivals.
